Peekskill Robin's Report, July 22, 2009
The Peekskill Robins split with the Quakertown Blazers on Sunday, losing the First Game by the score of 2-1 and then coming back with a Late Game Rally to win the Second Game by the score of 6-4. The Opening Game was a Pitcher's Dual with the Robin's Mike Anderson controlling the action. Anderson pitched 4 innings in this contest giving up 1 unearned run while striking out 6. Harry Glynne continued his fine pitching going the remainder of the game giving up only 2 hits while suffering the loss. Tommy Meade drove in the lone Robin Run. In the nitecap the Robins were trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the 7th and with 2 outs and 2 strikes, Quentin Luquette tied the game with a long home run to Right Field. The game went into extra innings and in the top of the 8th, Steve Vitale led of with a single to center. Meade then hit his second double of this game to score Vitale and when the ball was bobbled by the Blazer Centerfielder, Meade advance to 3rd and was driven in by a ground ball by Chris Juarez, who also had an earlier rbi. Andrew Leenhouts went 7 innings in this game to earn the victory while striking out 6. Peter Denyssenko picked up the save by retiring all 3 batters to face him in the 8th. The Robins will be in action today at 4pm with a double header with the same Quakertown Blazers at Peekskill Stadium and then return to action at home on Friday at 12pm with a twinbill vs the Lehigh Valley Catz.
